Problem using VBA(VB editor) in Excel 97

H

Humberto

Trying the following:
1- Open Excel 97 (Excel opens with a new workbook)
2- Changing to Visual Basic Editor (Vb environment) using
Alt+F11 (or clicking the corresponding menu item)
3- Clicking "Tools" > "References"

On some machines, the References box is shown. Anothers
machines show me an error messagebox: "Object library not
registered." (messagebox title is: "Microsoft Visual
Basic").

What can I do to solve this problem ???
I searched for solutions on the whole internet, but found
just one person who got the same problem
(http://www.visualbasicforum.com/showthread.php?
s=1c25f1c4cbb87876e3aabbfccb46ca82&t=58828).
I've tried to monitoring the files (what files are
opened/used by Excel) expecting I could catch some file
that is not registered or something like that.

An interesting thing occured when I made some experiments:
- I uninstalled Office97 from my computer choosing to
remove all suite.
- Office97 told me that the uninstallation was succeded.
- I looked at the folder where I made the previous
installation. I noticed that some files (+/-46Mb) were
still there after the uninstallation (including the
executables).
- Then, I tried to execute Excel.exe and it worked.
- I tried to follow the steps 1,2,3 that originate the
error (mentioned above) and it worked ! The "References"
box was shown.

I really don't know what is happening. If someone could
bring some idea or solution, I'd be very thankful.

Thanks in advance !
