I received an excel document from a collegue using a PC. When I copy the data from his spreedsheed (numbers and date), the date in my spreadsheet are different. Why is that?

Thanks

Hi,

PC's use the 1900 date system, Mac's use the 1904 date system. Look under
Excel Preferences, I believe its the Calculation tab and switch.

If you intend to paste into a new workbook or one that contains no
date-relative data you can first set the date system used in that book to
match the one used in the file you're copying from. In Excel> Preferences>
Calculation clear the check for 1904 Date System in the new workbook before
pasting the data in. HOWEVER...

If you intend to paste into an existing workbook which is based on the 1904
Date System & there are already dates in the file *Do Not* change the date
system for that file. If you do the new date values will paste in accurately
but all the pre-existing dates will be wrong. See the info here:
