Hi
I've been using my FrontPage 2000 software now for some time without any
great problems.
Until that is, I recently tried to use 'separate files' for my CSS...
Basically the problem is that FP will save (and re-save) OK, an EMPTY CSS...
But it won't save an EDITED CSS !
Because when I try to save an EDITED CSS, I get a Windows Error Message, and
when I close the message, FP closes down !
NB: This problem is occurring on my PC, which uses Windows XP
But it works ok on another PC which uses Windows 98.
See my steps below:
First: I created a test webpage, with some paragraphs of text.
Next: I created and saved an EMPTY CSS file (test.css).
( file/new/page 'Style Sheets' 'Normal Style Sheet' )
Then: I linked this 'EMPTY CSS' to all of my webpages.
( Format/Style Sheets Links/All Pages/Add/ ~ then I selected the CSS
(test.css) and clicked 'OK' )
NB: This put the correct htm code into the webpages header...
( <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="test.css"> )
Then I created a style:...
a: With the stylesheet open, I clicked... format/style
b: Created a new style (User-defined style) etc.
c: This automatically wrote the new style code into this open style sheet
(test.css).
But the problem starts when I try to Save this now EDITED 'open style sheet
(test.css)'
Because if I click either the 'floppy disk' icon, or 'File/Save As
Then I get either of the following 2 Windows error messages...
===========================
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
------------------------------------------------------
X Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office_2\Office\FRONTPG.EXE
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
============================
Or...
=========================
Microsoft FrontPage application file
--------------------------------------------------
Microsoft FrontPage application file has encountered a problem and needs to
close....
==========================
So I tried: Help/detect and repair ( from within FP )
Which says it will 'automatically fix errors in this application'
Which instructs me to insert my copy of disk: Microsoft Office Premium SR-1
So I inserted my 'disk 1' and it appeared to run ok.
But after rebooting, this did not cure this problem !
I would appreciated any help, thanks.
