I have a access Database created in NT (office 97), but my clients
have migrated to W2k (office 2K) so when they try to open the Access
MDB which was created in NT...it throws the below given error....

The current user account doesn't have permission to convert or enable
this database.

To convert or enable a database, ensure the following:
* You must join the workgroup that defines the user accounts used to
access the database.
* Your user account must have Open/Run and Open Exclusive permissions
for the database object.
* Your user account must have Modify Design or Administer permissions
for all the tables in the database, or it must be the owner of all
tables in the database.
* Your user account must have Read Design permission for all objects
in the database.
* Request that other users close the database.

How do i over come this..plz help me out..as i am running short of
ideas to resolve this problem..

Appreciate u'r effort in helping me out....

Thanks in advance

Did your NT Access 97 database connect to a workgroup file that generated
security by prompting users for a username and password. If so, they
probably need to join back to your workgroup. My question is the database a
full database containing tables, queries, forms etc or do you have the
database split into a back-end/front-end. Where the back-end contains only
the 97 tables and the front-end with the linked tables, queries, forms etc
reside on the user's machines. Although, Access 2000 or higher can use 97
databases, it is not wise to keep the backend at 97. I would consider
upgrading the database, even if you have to do it at their location and copy
the database up to the NT machine.

Oh yeah, one other thing. If you do upgrade the 97 database make sure you
are connected to the proper secured workgroup (if applicable) before the
upgrade. If you don't, then you will lose all your security and have to
recreate all new logins.
