Problem with 2007 beta after Windows/Office update

Windows Update had a bunch of things for me to install. I let it. I am
running Win XP SP2, IE7 beta3, Office 2007 beta. After the update, install,
and restart, I tried to load Outlook, but I can't. The error message I get is:

"Either there is no default mail client or the current mail client can not
fulfill the messenging request. Please run Microsoft Office Outlook and set
it as the default mail client."

Any help appreciated.

The same thing happened to me. I decided to uninstall the Beta and return to
2003 but Outlook still would not run telling me my "mapi32.dll was corrupt"
and to reinstall Outlook. I first tried to repair then reinstall, neither
worked.

I am now d/ling beta again to see if I can reinstall that.

I was thinking of doing a system restore to before the Windows Update occurred.

Can you uninstall the specific updates?

I have finally got Outlook 2003 working again. I had to fully uninstall and
reinstall. Unsure if I will try the Beta again.

The same thing happened to me. I decided to uninstall the Beta and
return to 2003 but Outlook still would not run telling me my

You should be able to rename the mapi32.dll file and Outlook should repair
it when you start it.

I did a System Restore and all is OK now. Once I'm sure everything is back to
normal, I'll run Windows Update again but skip the Outlook updates.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the updates didn't cause any
problem with both my Outlook 2007 installations.

I had the same problem after last night's update. If you run the Office
Diagnostics, though, it fixes the problem (albeit taking 30 minutes to do
so). It seems that last night's update confused Windows into thinking there
are two conflicting versions of Outlook running.

How did you originally install 2007?

I initially did a clean install of Office 2007, downloading it from the
Preview site. I'd removed Office 2003 from my computer before that install,
and Office 2007 had been running fine for me prior to last night's update, so
I don't think there were any conflicts prior.
