Problem with Access XP and Source Safe

D

Davids

Hi!

I have installed Access XP and Office developer for XP and I want to add a
DB under Source Safe. The SS add-in Work correctly if i use a DB previously
added (with Access 2000) to Source Safe, but if I want To add a new DB from
XP, that doesn't work.
No error is shown...

Thanx in advance.

Here is a KB article that might provide some clues:

http://support.microsoft.com/?id=837136

It is written for Access 2003. I don't see a similar KB article written for Access 2002 (XP). Do
you have the latest service pack installed for Office XP (SP3)? Note that this KB article
includes the following: "If you have Visual SourceSafe 6.0d, you must install Microsoft Visual
Studio 6.0 Service Pack 6 before you can add a database to Visual SourceSafe." Don't know if
that would apply to Access 2002, but if you have this version of SourceSafe, it probably wouldn't
hurt to make sure that it has been undated as well.

Good Luck,

Tom

hi, could someone help me with this ?

I have created a file Test_v0.6.doc prior to installing sources safe. After
successful installation of SS, i added Test_v0.6.doc. But when i click on
show history, it is reflected as version 1, is there any possibility of
changing it to version 6 ?

thanking in advance.

Unfortunately no...
I have Office XP with all service pack available (SP3), VSS 6.0d and Visual
studio 6 with SP6. Your patch is only for Office 2003 and doesn't exists
similar patch for Office XP.
You have other idea for solving this problem? Thanx!

You have other idea for solving this problem?

Two ideas:
1.) Posting the question on a newsgroup dedicated to Visual SourceSafe, if such a newsgroup even
exists

or

2.) Calling Microsoft for help. You'll likely need to open your wallet to get help this way.

I don't use VSS, so I'm sorry I cannot provide further assistance.
