problem with applying a template i designed

I created a very simple template in PowerPoint 2002. When I apply this
template to an exisiting presentation, it creates a text box on the title
slide that was not in the templete.

Any suggestions on what happend? I can supply the files if necessary.

Is it a text placeholder? Does it say "Click to add..."? Is it possible the
text box is indeed in the presentation and you're not actually seeing it
until you apply a different template? Does the text box appear if you apply
a built-in template?
