Problem with auto-format of phone numbers - Looking for another soolution

R

I used to enter 1231234567 and it would change to (123) 123-4567.

I know this question has been asked many times and the answer has
always been to set up the dial-up properties. I guess I have a
different problem.

I'm running XP pro and outlook 2003. I checked the settings under the
phone & modem control panel and I do have a location called HOME and
it has the correct local area code. I can also see it from within
outlook when I go to place a new call. (actions -> call contact -> new
call)

Here is another piece of info. A few days ago I could not enter
appointments in the outlook calendar. The root cause of the problem
was that I did not have an entry in the time zone tab under date and
time. ( I'm not sure how it got removed. I have anti-virus and
anti-spyware) Not even when I pulled on the menu. The solution for
that was to find a good registry on a pc running the same version of
XP. I copied it from my laptop. Here is the key I was told to copy.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Time
Zones]

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
