Problem with 'Automatically reply to messages using template'

We don't use Exchange Server and our online email access site doesn't allow
auto-reply unfortunately.

So I found Microsoft's instructions for automatically reply to messages
using an email template and the Rules tool:

I'm running Outlook 2007 on Windows XP Prof Version 2002 with service pack 3.

I followed the instructions, adding a couple of extra conditions and Outlook
generated an email but there was no address added so it wouldn't send.

So I followed the instructions to the letter, with the most basic settings,
did a test and get an error window 'Rules in Error' saying it cannot reply to
the message.

Having fiddled for a while now with various settings I'm pretty disappointed
and frustrated, and need to get this working. Anyone got any ideas?

What exactly does "the most basic settings" mean in your case? Do you get any
errors if you run the .oft file by itself?

Successfully open the template via Tools-Forms-Choose Form.

Added email address, clicked Send, and off it went. I received this delivery
failure:

There is nothing to respond with - MS is aware of the problem and all we can
do is wait for a fix (or a KB detailing it).

The problem update is 969907
(http://www.outlook-tips.net/archives/2009/20090721.htm) - there was a large
update last week that fixes a lot of bugs
(http://support.microsoft.com/kb/973404). I haven't tested it for the rules
error yet since its not listed as a bug that was fixed, but its possible
that it fixed things not listed.
