Problem with closing dialog box

When I am trying to add new appointments into the calendar, I always get an
error that says a dialog box is open and that I need to close it. When I try
to close the box it does not let me. HELP....please!! I am so frustrated.
I am using the version of outlook that came loaded with Vista.

Outlook doesn't come loaded with Vista. Please look in Help About to
determine version.
