Problem with copy & paste formula

I have a workbook with several sheets and the last sheet being the totals
for all others. Each sheet has a cell that is formatted for text.
Occasionally, I have to add a sheet to the workbook, add rows for the
totals, then copy and paste the formulas in the rows that were added. The
cell that contains the text format always returns the formula rather than
the result after copy and paste. Is there a way to correct this behavior?

If you format as text, then that is normal ie you'll see the formula itself,
not the result, to do calculations you have to format as a numerical value,
Number or Currency for instance.
A quick way to convert text to number is to enter 1 in an empty cell and
Copy > Paste Special > Multiply to the range of cells you want to alter,
