Problem with Deferred Mail

T

Tammy

We are configuring a mail message to be deferred from delivering until a
specific date. The problem is that everything appears to be set up
correctly, but the mail never delivers on the date specified. I have checked
to see if cached mode is turned on (We are using Outlook/Exchange 2003). The
cached mode is turned off. Any suggestions?

Are there any other accounts in the profile? If so, you will need to leave
Outlook running in order for the message to be delivered. You can only
shut Outlook down if you have a single online Exchange account in the
profile.

Jeff,

I did have several profiles. I deleted the profiles via Control
Panel-Mail-Show Profiles. After deleting the profiles and closing and
restarting Outlook, I sent another delayed delivery mail. It still went to
the Outbox. I went to the registry and looked for any remenents of the
profiles I had deleted. I deleted the references in the registry and tried
the deferred delivery again. Still the same problem. Could there be other
references to the profiles somewhere? I think your suggestion is on the
right track, because the delayed delivery worked at one time.

What I was asking was not whether there were different *profiles* for
Outlook (they won't affect this), but whether there are different
*accounts* within the profile that you're using. More than one account in
the profile will require Outlook to be running in order to send the message
at the proper time.

Oh, you are talking about POP mail etc. The only account for the Profile is
Microsoft Exchange Server.

Well, if you have only a single on-line Exchange account in your profile
and deferred mail is not being sent, the problem is likely on your Exchange
server rather than with Outlook - this is one case where the job is
Exchange's to do, rather than Outlook's.

Talk to your Exchange administrator, or post to the Exchange newsgroup.

Bummer, I am the Exchange Administrator. Thanks for your help Jeff. I will
look at the Exchange newsgroup.
