I have an Access 2003 database running on WinXP (engl. Acc 2003, german Win
XP prof.)
The Security Level is set to Medium.
My Customer does not like security warnings when opening a database so I
added a digital signature using makecert.exe and pvkimprt.exe. This works
fine on my test computers for all security settings.
However, same db and signature do not work on my customers computers (engl.
Acc 2003, english Win XP, various regional settings). They get an error
message that says "Microsoft Office cannot open mydatabasename.mdb due to
security restrictions. Security settings restrict access to the file because
it is not digitally signed." if the security settings are higher than low.
Root certificate and application certificate (private key included) are
shown to be imported successfully.
Ironic isn't it? It only started to create this message after I added the
digital signature!
Why does it work on my computers and fails on other machines?
Does anybody has an idea how to solve this?
Thanks for your help,
Gerald
