Problem with email attachments

I am using Outlook 2003 as a IMAP mail client only. I have a recently started problem that I have not been able to correct.

I am unable to open or save and open any forwarded email message. I can open any other type of attachement except forwarded emails.

I have loaded Thunderbird and it opens email attachments fine so it has to be an Outlook specific problem.

I have repaired Outlook and reset to factory settings but I still have the problem.

Can anyone offer any suggestsin and what the possible solution might be?
