Problem with entering values in Excel97

B

Brasule

When I open a new sheet and try to enter a value into a cell
(eg. "123"), it is automatically changed to 1/10th, ie. 12.3.
I'm quite sure it has General format, and there isn't any
macro in this sheet.

I've tried to re-install the whole Office and start another copy
of Excel (from network) - nothing helped.

Is there any "joke" Registry entry for Excel? or could it be a
problem with Windows (98SE)?

Thanks for help,

Brasi.

If you tried to re-install over the top of the existing
office, it will not replace all files. If that's waht you
did, try uninstalling Office, shut down (complete
shutdown) Wait 10 or 15 seconds to allow the system to
completely powerdown and flush the memory. Reboot, then re-
install. If there are any Excel related files in memory
(loaded at bootup or remaining from the last time you used
the application) the installer can not write over the
file. Reinstall the application. I have had this process
fix application problems where the something in the
application was corrupted.

Hope that helps!

Kevin
