Problem with Excel after running detect and repair

J

John Reece

Greetings,

I stupidly tried to run Detect and Repair without access to my Office
XP installer CD (I thought the installer files had been transferred to
the hard disk--they hadn't). As expected, it hit the wall when it
couldn't find SKU011.CAB, told me that the repair failed and rolled
back. Word, PowerPoint and anything else that I've tried are working
fine, but every time I try to boot Excel it asks for SKU011.CAB, and I
have to hit cancel three or four times before it will boot. After that
it seems to work fine. Very irritating, particularly because the
problem was caused by my own stupidity.

Any suggestions for how I can fix this WITHOUT access to the install
CD. Forget the Detect and Repair; I just want Excel to work properly.

TIA

John

Hi John,

Without the installation source this could be a problem. The SKUnnn.cab error messages often indicate damage to the MS Office 2003
Local Install Source (LIS) stored in the \MSOcache folder.

If you use the MS Office LISTool utility to disable the LIS then it will usually ask for the original CD as well.
