Problem with font switching

Menikos

I have 2 kinds of font problems:
1. I have formated my font with Latin and Asian (Chinese) text font and
whenever I use the Chinese font of my choosing and upon pressing the space
bar for the next character I will always get another font (song ti, as shown
in the drop down menu as well). How can I stop this changeover?

2. Whenever I copy paste English text from Word onto Pagemaker, the
punctuation marks are shown in symbols even though the font remains the
same. I don't have this problem when I copy paste text from, say, a website.

Thanks.

Hi Menikos,

You may want to use the links below to also post in the Word International Features newsgroup. You didn't mention the version of
Windows or Word you're using or the base language settings for both on your PC. As a guess the 'symbol' problem is from Word's
Autocorrect settings that are changing things like 'quotes' to 'smart quotes'.

For the font changing you may want to look at the definition for the underlying style used for that part of the document (for
example the 'normal' style to see what fonts are defined for both 'regular' and 'asian typography' defaults.

Hello Bob

Thanks for the response. Yes, I should have mentioned that I have XP with
Word 2003 and my base language is English.

You are correct about the 'symbol' problem being from Word as someone
suggested I use EditPad Lite and with a better result though spacing for an
apostrophe is double spaced.

Sorry, I didn't quite get what you meant about 'normal' 'regular' and asian
typography defaults. Under the Font menu, I have set the Font style as
Regular (no 'normal' option given) and no choice of style for the asian text
is given either.

I will post the same in those newsgroups you've suggested.
