problem with forms

Hi,

I am in need for some advice. I have developed a simple form within my AST
101 and AST 102 internet courses web sites using Frontpage2000 where
students will fill in their names and e-mail addresses. The form serves a
portal to access a page (the confirmation page) where they may download a
test. When they click on the “Submit” button, the simple information is
forwarded to me and they are sent to the above mentioned confirmation page.

I need the form response, because it serves as a “check-in” with a
time-stamp. The test they will take at home will have a 2 hour limit. They
will e-mail the completed test in to me, and I will have that time to
compare to the time stamp on their form submittal to ensure no one abuses
the 2 hour limit.

My problem is that I would like to prevent people from filling in gibberish
and then access the confirmation page (where the test is linked) to get a
preview of the test.

I think I would like to have this form require a password or codename (so to
speak) which would be unique for each student (about 50 people). This way,
they may sneak in, but must provide their password to continue.

I imagine a password protection scheme would work for a data set of
passwords, but I would like to have the form response as a tool to know the
time they started (downloaded the test).

Do you have any suggestions on how I may do this?

Thanks, Japier
