Problem with FrontPage generated code when publishing to website

Bob Evans

I have Windows 2000 and a FrontPage Extensions 2002 web setup on my local
machine. I have an HTML file that contains a table to provide overall page
layout. In the top row of the table is a webbot include of a banner.htm
file. In the middle row is a webbot include of a navigation.htm file. When I
view in FrontPage in either Normal or Preview the page appears correctly.
When I view via the File menu Preview In Browser selection it appears
correctly. When I publish to my public site on the internet is the source is
generated correctly and the view is also correct. However, when I publish to
my local machines FrontPage Extensions 2002 server the source generated is
incorrect. It somehow doubles all elements. Effectively, it appears as two
tables intertwined in some fashion with two banners, two navigation menus,
etc. It is only on my local machine that I get this behavior. However, I do
development on my local machine so this is a big problem.

Any ideas?

There are bugs in the FP 2002 extensions. Make sure all patches and updates
are installed:

See the FrontPage 2002 Server Extensions Support Center at:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=fh;en-us;fp10se

1) Download the FP 2002 Server Extensions:
http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp?url=/library/en-us/dnservext/html/fpse02win.asp
The English ones are at:
http://download.microsoft.com/download/FrontPage2002/fpse1002/1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/FPSE1002.exe

2) Download FP2002 Server Extensions Updates (and install in this order):
http://download.microsoft.com/download/FrontPage2002/fpse1001/1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/fpse1001.exe
http://download.microsoft.com/download/FrontPage2002/fpse1002/1/W98NT42KMeXP/EN-US/fpse1002.exe

3) Download and install the SE Security Patch:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;813380

Then to install and apply them see

BTW, several of the newsgroups you cross posted to do not exist.

Thanks for the info.

I was able to work around temporarily by deleting the FrontPage website I
had created under \inetpub\wwwroot, publishing to a new folder
\inetpub\mysite, and then making MySite a virtual directory pointing to the
new folder.

I will look to follow the steps you provided after I get past my deadline
tomorrow.

Thanks again

Tom,

Upon review it does look like the frontpage2000 newsgroup doesn't exist,
although it still seems to appear in the list of newsgroups retrieved from
my news server. You mentioned several. Did I miss another one?

Thanks,
Bob
