Problem with Groove account after reinstalling Windows

Widom

Hello everyone,

I have to format my HD and instal WinXP with all aplications again :(
Of course I have saved my Groove workspces but I have forgoten save my
"Manager" user account.
After WinXP reinstallation I can not login on my previous Groove account
anymore.
The restored workplaces seams to be fine except I can not manage them
anymore on new account I have to create (no Manager rights possible to set).

Anyone knows the solution ?
Why Groove do not let me login on old account I had before ?
Any other possible solution to set Manager right to worspaces I have.

Best Regards,
Widom

Hello,

Thanks for your feedback.

It seems as though you have 2 issues here. The first is not being able to
login to your old account. The second is not having the 'Manager' role in
your workspaces any longer.

For the first issue, you never mentioned if you get an error while
attempting to login to your old account, or if you might have forgotten
your passprhase? If it's a passphrase problem, and you are not a "managed
device", there is no way to reset the passphrase for you. You will have to
create a new account and be invited back to your old space. If you receive
an error message, reply back to me what the error message is and I can try
to help you further.

For the second issue, all you have to do to become a manager of a workspace
is to copy the workspace. Once you copy the workspace you automatically
become the manager of that new space. You can then either rename the
original workspace or delete it.

Hope this helps.

Rick (MSFT)

Hello,

Unfortunatelly you are right - I have both cases.

Unfortunatelly I do not have a passphrase to old account.
But since I backup a workspace and I can be there visible as a Pareticipant.
So, now I am going to try copy worspace to new one where hopfully I can get
Manager right.
Thanks for hospitality. I let you know if I am sucess with it.
Thank you very much.

Dear Widom,

Thank you for your reply.

According to your description, since you have replace installed your system
and then your old groove account has been lost totally. So based on this
situation, you have not be able to use your old account with your original
data.

I think we have to ask your Groove administrator and check if your Groove
Management server has backed up your groove account and if so, please ask you
groove administrator to help you recover your account.

Hence the accuracy here to use managed accounts and put policies in place
which allows to reset passphrases, automatically backup Groove ids, ...
but this is a much more advanced stuff...
