problem with http://office.microsoft.com/officeupdate/

Error message: "The Office Update site is currently
experiencing some technical difficulties and is unable to
check for updates."

Is it really the site or is there something wrong with my
machine. This started immediately after installing SP3
for OfficeXP.

I have the exact problem, but no one ever gets back to
me. When I run the office update, it goes to 40% and then
stops and then I get that same message..unable to check
for updates. I thought it was me, but I see a lot of
folks are having the same problem. Is there any tech
support out there willing to help us?

Apparently not. Looks like Microsoft has a new strategy
to force people to upgrade to their latest releases.

Well, of course. There is no solution to this problem, and there never
shall be.

Micro$oft does not want a solution, and only pretends to support most
Office products because 1) it amuses them to do so, and 2) it amuses
them to do so.

Don't feel bad, however. The "patches" that Micro$oft provides for
earlier Office products don't solve problems, but rather render the
Office products unusable. So, we should all count our blessings that
Office Update don't work.
