Problem with Index and page numbering

P

Peter

Hi there,

I have created a Word document of about 150 pages, in which the first five
pages show a table of contents. The following pages begin with page number 1
and are numbered 1 to 140, which works. I have created an Index by {XE
"name"} which works out fairly well up to page 39.
But beginning on page 40 the page number given in the index does not match
up with the page that the topic is related to on.

To test this, I have written:
{XE "page 39"} on page 39
{XE "page 40"} on page 40
....
{XE "page 55"} on page 55

The index, however, gives:
page 39.......39
page 40......39
page 41......40
page 42......41
page 43......42
page 44......42
page 45......43
page 46......44
...
page 55......53

Does anyone have an idea what the reason for this is?
Thx
Peter

Is there a section break on page 39? In order to more easily see the
section breaks, you can switch to Normal view.

If you find a section, you need to look in the Page Number Format box
for that section and verify that page numbering is set to "Continue
from previous section."

To access the Page Number Format dialog box for a section, click View
| Header and Footer and then click the Format Page Number button on
the Header and Footer toolbar. Note that for a continuous section
limited to part of a page, you will have to insert a page break so
that you can see headers and footers. When you are done, delete the
page break.
