Hello,
We have an enterprise solution that uses infopath across three sites here at
Lockheed. A user opens an infopath form, fills it out, and submits it (which
is emailed to the appropriate manager). The managers at our California site
had their IT people push down an application (Epic Editor) that took over the
..xml extension. Now, when the managers in California try to open the emailed
Infopath form attachment in outlook (which has an .xml extension), Epic
Editor is trying to open it and it crashes.
I know how to change the extensions on their PCs (maybe even with a batch
file using ftype), but I don't think this is a good (or even possible)
option. Also, getting the IT people to issue a patch, change their
application, etc, is not an option (Ever dealt with corporate IT folks?)
Because of that, I have several questions:
1) Is there a way to change the extension of the form that is submitted in
outlook, but will still open Infopath appropriately after it is received?
2) Is there a way to force Outlook to use Infopath (or the MS XML Editior)
when opening .xml attachments even if the default .xml extension is mapped to
another application, such as Epic Editor?
3) If none of the above is possible, does anyone have a possible solution?
Thanks in advance for your help!
