Problem with Legal Papersize Setting on a Access 2000 Report

Hi Everyone:

Figured I'd knock two birds with one stone on this snowy morning as I have
just submitted another question prior to this one moments ago! :)

There is one other problem I am recently having at work with a report in
Access 2000 located within a shared database. I've created a report
designed for Legal Size Paper. Everything is fine when I look at it in
preview mode. I am also connected to a network printer which has a tray
setup for legal sized paper. The problem I am noticing is that some
Managers who access this report have a local deskside printer which I'm not
sure about this capabilities. It might hold Legal paper or maybe not..not
sure. Anyway, the problem is that when they open it, the report shows,
instead, on Letter size (not legal). Now the really strange part is that
when I reopen the report, then for me, too, it is showing and printing in
Letter size. I thought the paper size was stored with the report and could
not be changed. I've told the managers to make sure to click page setup
first before printing and make sure you select legal size, but, of course,
they complain about this (managers...complain?? who would have thought?
:))

Thanks in advance for any assistance.

There may be a chance that you're encountering a known bug with A2K, related
to the Track Name Autocorrect setting in Options. If you haven't applied
the patches and SRs, and are using the original, out of the box A2K, the
Track Name Autocorrect needs to be un-checked. This bug was resolved and
patched, so applying the updates is a more robust solution.

No, there's no understandable connection between the Track Name Autocorrect
and why report settings are modified, but that's why they call it a bug,
no?!

Good luck

Jeff:

Thanks. Yeah you have to wonder how this stuff gets all connected in the
background huh? Track Name Autocorrect and Report settings?? Anyway, that
just might be the solution. I'll uncheck and/or apply the patch on Monday.
Thank you.

Cheryl:

Thank you. I was lucky so far in that I had not come across inherit A2K
bugs in any of my solutions...but looks like I finally crossed paths with
one. Anyway, thanks for analzying my problems and offering the solution.
I'm sure that will do the trick!

If your custom printer setup is not supported when the report
is run, the report printer is reset to 'default'.

This well affect anyone and everyone who use the report after
it has been reset.
