Problem with loading second and third copy of Student edition

I purchased the Student edition of Office 2007, and have loaded it on the two
computers used by my college students. My second child received a warning
that he may not have a valid license when attempting to download a template
from the MS Office website. I understood that I could install this version
on up to 3 different machines.
What do I need to do in installing this on up to three computers so as to be
in compliance with my license?
Did I miss a step with the second install? (We used the same key on the box
each time.)
I hope someone can help me with this.

You shouldn't have had any trouble installing this product on up to three
computers. I have Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition installed on
three at the moment, and I have never had a problem with activating it.
Have you tried installing Office Updates yet? Or any of the downloads?
They require product verification.

One thing that sometimes happens, if you bought it from a college bookstore,
is that the less scrupulous employees copy and sell the Product Keys, a form
of piracy. They expect never to get caught, as "most people" have one
computer. If you bought it from a guy in an alley wearing a trench coat
this may be a clue.

Earl,

Thanks for the quick reply. I noticed another discussion thread had a post
saying that the Student edition did not include Outlook. Mine does. I just
looked at my box and it says "Academic Use Only". I thought it was the
edition sold for "Students and Teachers". I probably need to look on the
site, but do you know if this is the label on all Student and Teacher copies,
or could I have a version with different restrictions (such as only one valid
copy)?

I hope you, or someone else, will know.

Thanks

I bought a copy of Office 2007 from the college I attend and the DVD says
"Microsoft® Office Professional Plus 2007", "Licensed for use only by
students and faculty", "Applications Student Media" and "Not for retail or
OEM distribution. Not for resale." This is NOT Student Edition or Home and
Student Edition and it DOES include Outlook. Mine is a volume licensed
copy, purchased for $25 from the college bookstore, and the actual license,
which is on one of the college's servers, says three installations. If you
have a deal like this then check with the people you bought it from for the
actual license conditions and for how many computers you can install it on.

The Microsoft Office Student and Teacher Edition I was talking about below
is an actual Student and Teacher edition of Office 2003, and it does include
three installations.

Has your second child activated his installation of Office 2007 yet? If
not, that may be the cause of the message he saw.

Good luck.
