Problem with long names in RBS Lookup table

Hi,

I'm using some Project Server 2007 custom fields which use RBS Lookup Table.
RBS Lookup Table have some values which exceed 128 characters in length.

Users could choose every (short an long) RBS value for associated custom
field in PWA interface.
But users cannot choose RBS value which exceeds 128 characters in length
when they use Project Professional 2007.
User get an error message:
The value yu entered does not exist in the lookup table of this code.
A values must be predefined in the code lookup table. Contact your server
administrator to get new values added.

Choosing RBS values for custom fields in Project Professional where RBS
value lengths are shorter than 128 characters works well.

Where is the problem?

Your help will be very appreciated.

If I understand it right, the issue you are epxeriencing is in MSPP 2007
client (e.g. you try to pick from the RBS drop down list when editing the
resource property in the resource sheet view)?

I had similar issues and this is what I did.

Use 'description' field in the RBS table to abbreviate the full RBS path..
in other words..
For instance.. If you had RBS table field value of
"Company Name.Finance and Corporate Services.Corporate Services.IT
Services.Infrastructure.Server.Windows.Application Services"
in the description field type
"Company.FCS.CorpSvc.ITSvc.Infra.Win.AppSvc"

Again, I'm not sure that this is the same issue you are facing (as I didn't
get that error mesage) but sounds similar ..

Hi Vaso,

I had problem when I pick from RBS drop down when editing Resource or
Project Property in Project Professional (Resource propery in Resource Sheet
ot Project Property in Project Information).
So I could find this problem only in Project Professional, not in PWA.

Your solution seems good workaround. I will try it.
Thank you.
