problem with mail as attachment in outlook express

I am using Word 2003 with Outlook Express. I used to be able to send word
files as attachment. That option appears to have dissapeared despite
"ticking" it in the options field in Tools menu. No matter what I do, switch
on or off, I cannot get mail as attachment back in the file sub menu. Any
ideas?
