Problem with Office 2000 producy key, after applying SP1

Hello. Looking for a little help...

We have a customer with a Terminal Server running Windows Server 2003 in
application sharing mode. This weekend, we applied SP1 for Windows Server
2003.

The installation of SP1 went fine. But there is now a problem afterwards.

The server is also running Microsoft Office 2000 Professional. Since
applying SP1, the Welcome to Microsoft Office 20000 customer information
window is displayed whenever trying to open any of the Office 2000 apps
(Word, Excel, Outlook, etc). It asks for username, initials, organization,
and CD key. This happens for all user profiles.

Unfortunately the original Office 2000 CDs and key codes seem to be missing.

I am trying to find a way to recover from this situation. As I have 30+
users who will be coming into the office on Monday morning, and all will be
prompted to enter this information.

Prior to applying SP1, I did confirm a good tape backup of the server. And
also prior to applying SP1, I did make a manual backup of the
C:\WINNT\repair folder, which has copies of the registry files. Using
REGEDIT, and loaded a copy of the SOFTWARE hive from the prior copy.

On a hunch, I browsed to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\9.0\Registration\ProductID
thinking that I might find the information that I was looking for. But that
key is empty.

Everything related to the Office 2000 software was working fine prior to
applying SP1.

Any ideas how I can recover from this situation, assuming that we can't find
the original CDs and installation keys?

All of the KeyFinding programs seem to work with everything except Office
2000.

I just spent 90 minutes on the phone with the volume licensing key folks.
First guy told me he was unable to generate an Office 2000 key because the
license had "expired". I told him that the "maintenance" had expired, but
that the license was still valid. I pushed and got bumped up to his
supervisor. His supervisor explained that their "software" would not allow
them to generate a key code for an expired agreement.

I have him another agreement number that included Office Pro that was not
expired. After having me on hold for 15-20 minutes, he said that the
software was not letting him generate an Office 2000 key. He said he
created a case, and someone would respond in 48 hours.

My cline is going to kill me. Everything was fine with this server, until I
apply SP1 for Windows Server 2003. I did a lot of prep work before applying
the Service Pack. But I had no idea that I would need the Office 2000
product key afterwards. Otherwise, I would simply have done a Help->About
prior to installing SP1.
