Problem with OGA / Validation / Activation....

I have an older machine with Office XP on it. As far as day to day
use, Office was activated YEARS ago and I can use all the programs
just fine.

Enter the dreaded "OGA" and "Validation". The Office Update site says
that it cannot validate Office XP because it is not validated - but
when I go into MS Wood and say "Activate" from the Help menu, it says
that the product is already activated!

ARRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Chalk another one up for Micro$haft!

Anyone got any ideas on how to solve this????

ALL software involved is completely and 100% legit!

It got me past the Activation thing. However, now when I get ast the
OGA check, it LOOKS like it is scanning, and then dumps somw page
about how it could not update.....

Network Connectivity is NOT an issue. Other machines on the same
sub-net update just fine. Yes, I have admin privs...

NOW WHAT?
