Problem with OS 9 and OS X Cyrillic fonts

I transferred a Word98 Russian text created in the PriamojProp font on
my OS 9.1 Powerbook to a Word2004 file in my OS 10.4.11 Mac Mini. When I
look at the text it says "Priamoj Prop" at the top but when I try to
paste Cyrillic text from an Apple Mail message the new text looks like
Arabic. PriamojProp is in fact not an available font choice in OS X (due
to its incompatibility with Unicode, I guess).

Is there any way to get the entire document to display correctly in my
Word2004 file?

Thank, it worked! At first I tried moving
the font via a flash drive but it always showed
as "Unix executable file, zero bytes), so I ended
up e-mailing it to myself.

Surprisingly OS 10.4 and Word 2004 recognize this
(I think) non-Unicode font.

I DID have some problems copying-and-pasting text
from Apple Mail messages, as I noted, but solved
it by choosing "Paste Special", then "Unformatted"
from the Word menu.

Thanks again,
Gary

Hello Gary,

Since you are using Word 2004, you may be interested in automating the
process of choosing Edit menu => Paste special => Un-formatted text.

Please see page 190 of some notes on the way I use Word for the Mac, titled
"Bend Word to Your Will", which are available as a free download from the
Word MVPs' website (http://word.mvps.org/Mac/Bend/BendWordToYourWill.html).

[Note: "Bend Word to your will" is designed to be used electronically and
most subjects are self-contained dictionary-style entries. If you decide to
read more widely than the item I've referred to, it's important to read the
front end of the document -- especially pages 3 and 5 -- so you can select
some Word settings that will allow you to use the document effectively.]

(This facility is not available on Word 2008.)

Cheers,

Thanks for the suggestion, but this isn't a situation I expect to
find myself in often.

This file was suggested to me before and I downloaded it. However, on
that occasion I didn't find a solution to my problem so I've not
consulted it since.
