Last week we installed a new server running server 2003 in one of my offices.
The old server was on server 2000. The day after the server was installed,
all outlook 2000 clients started getting the following error message when
attempting to open outlook: "OUTLOOK.exe has generated errors and will be
closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program. An error log is
being created." At this point you have to end task and can't access your
email.
I did multiple google and MS knowledge base searches, and have came up with
nothing that relates to this issue. There is one article that I found that
has to do with deselecting add-inn's in the add in manager in the advanced
options...I doublechecked this on all of the machines and no add-in's are
running in any of them. From that article, I did try opening Outlook in safe
mode from the run line, and I can get into outlook this way on all of the
machines, but I still can't get in by clicking on the outlook icon. I have
tested this on 6 different machines running Win2k and WinXP. Also note that
these are all using exchange accounts.
I have tried deleting and readding profiles and I have also
uninstalled/reinstalled outlook on one machine with no success. Has anyone
ever seen anything like this or does anyone have any suggestions on getting
this resolved?
