Problem with Outlook 2007

Trying to open outlook 2007 for the first time but the application hangs on
Preparing Outlook for first use screen. The progress bar goes about 1/3 of
the way and then it stops progressing. It's not frozen, just not progressing.

It's "Retrieving mailbox settings"

any help would be greatly appreciated

I have the exact same issue - The initial load of outlook hangs on
transfering the existing mailbox as below. I am running on windows xp and
connected to windows SBS 2003 and Exchange 2003.

OK - Well this is what I did to get thing moving - I went to control panel
and removed all mail connectors, data folder connectors , address book
connectors; Basically, making the load a generic as I could. Outlook then
initially loaded, and many errors poped up from my old CRM contact database.
I went back and removed the Old business contact manager.

After the nect Outlook start, everything calmed down. Ithen went back into
the mail setup icon in control panel and started adding one item at a time.
My connection to exchange came back as did my connector to an outside POP3
mailbox. All is good so far..
