Hi!
The following is a chat I had with a Comcast rep about my
problem:

Robin > I have had problems with linking my Outlook 2000
with my Comcast email account

to the server. (Account: '(e-mail address removed)', POP3
Server: 'mail.comcast.net', Error Number: 0x800ccc15).
Robin > and the other is the SMPT version

the cable modem on your account?
Robin > yes
Patrick > One moment, please.
Patrick > Are you running any type of firewall or anti-
virus programs?
Robin > yes, McAfee anti-virus
Patrick > Please temporarily disable all email scanning
functions in that program. Then close and re-open your
Outlook program.
Robin > I used to have firewall, but it expired recently
and I haven't renewed yet
Robin > I have done that and am waiting for Outlook to
connect to server
Patrick > Has disabling the programs and re-launching
resolved the matter?

Robin > I received a "Failed" message on sending email
Robin > and am sure I will get a "Failed" message for
incoming, as has been happening
Patrick > May I have the full message that is now being

Robin > Sure - for some reason it won't let you cut and
paste the error message but I can type them for you
Patrick > You cannot cut and paste from Outlook, only
from Outlook Express.

provide direct support for an issue that is directly
related to Outlook 2000. We only provide client support
to Outlook EXpress.

be a win proxy issue related to Outlook.
Robin > What makes you think this is an Outlook 2000
issue?
Patrick > You may want to consult the Microsoft website
in that regard.
Robin > I think I tried that before but got nowhere

errors from Microsoft. I can further test your IP
connection tot he email servers with you.
Patrick > YOu should also then try to send/receive
usign Outlook EXpress for testing purposes.

me the easy way to get to DOS

to the servers. I would suggest the following. Consult
the Microsoft site regarding the specific error numbers
you get. see what they advise you to do. YOu can also ry
backing up email and address book content, then deleting
and rebuilding the entry in Outlook for the email address.
Patrick > before doing that, however, try setting up
Outlook EXpress as a test.
