Problem with password prompt - prompts twice or more

Hi

When logging into to subsite password protected which is layered IE 6 SP2
prompts the user more then once up to 3 times this only occurs with SP2 on
IE 6 and Netscape 7.x not on any older versions?

Has anyone run into this problem with passwords layered?

Thanks

well
layered meaning the subsite is password protected
then a subsite below that is password protected

Ok
You have nested subsites, correct?
Do/can both use the same login info?
How did you set up the permissions on each?

well the permission on the top subsite has account A1 and A2
well the bottom subsite has only A2 allowed
annonymous is turned off on both and A1 and A2 just have browser access

I think you will have to have both subsites at the same level, not nested if using FP permissions,
otherwise you could control access with a custom written server-side script to control access to
individual pages by login type/level.

so in other words they cant be nested and password protected
so will delete the whole subsites and start over again?

Let me see if I understand what you are trying to accomplish... with a user only having to log in
once...

A1 logs in and has access to the top level subsite and the nested subsite

A2 logs in and has access only to the top level subsite

Correct ?

You may have to set permissions via the OS and not via the FP extensions to get this to work in this
manner unless someone else has a solution, as the only way I can think this might would work is to
have a second login for the nested subsite

Hi

I have removed the nested site and created a subsite under the main site

and I am running the same FP SE
