Problem with Portfolio Analyzer

Hello,

I have a problem with the Portfolio Analyzer. When I build a view for
it or try to use it in the project center, the field list is missing
Projects as well as many others. All I seem to have is Totals, Booking
Type, Resources, Resource Stats and TIme. I'm missing a lot. There
are many published projects with resources assigned in project server.
I chose "Use the earliest project start date and the latest project
finish date" as well as the previous 24 months and next 12 months.
Still nothing else comes up in the field list. I've tried rebuilding
the cube from scratch in analysis services but still nothing. Can
someone suggest something else for me to try? Thanks.

Hi Robert,

I would delte the database connection in Analysis Server and would try to
rebuild the cubes in PWA. What will happen is that Project Server will
recreate a new connection and build the cubes. This may solve you issue.
Hope this helps

Marc,

I have tried this. I deleted the DB's in Analysis Services and
recreated. Then built the cube via PWA. Anything else come to mind
that I could try? Thanks.

Hmmm so that did not resolve it.

Just that I understand the problem. you are saying that the cube builds but
that the cube doesnt create all dimensions and measures you would expect. If
this is the case, here are a couple of questions:
have you tried to extend the OLAP cube programatically?
do you use any third party tool which extends your olap tool?
has it worked in the past, or have you always had this problem?
Can you see the dimensions if you go directly to Analysis server and brows
the data there?
How many cubes can you see in Analysis server?

Lets try to get of the bottom of it. I must admit, I have not seen the
issue, especially because Project Server 2003 builds the cube automatically.
If it builds it, it always builds it with all dimensions.
thanks

Marc,

There had never been a cube built when I built it. There are active
projects in Project Server and resources. I've installed Project
Server for clients 20 times and never seen this issue come up either.
All three cubes show up in Analysis Services under the database and
there are no other extra cubes. They are not using any third party
OLAP extension tools. I'm not sure how to extend the OLAP cube
programtically, but it appears already extended. If I browsed the data
manually, what would I be looking for? Thanks for your help.
