Problem with positioning a graphic

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel Hi, I'm trying to position a picture from a file on my hard drive. I was able to import the graphic into my document, and I would like to use this graphic to replace the one on the generic cover page I chose from a selection that Word provides. However, for some reason, I cannot drag and place the graphic where I want it - it just pops back to where Word originally inserted it after import, which is off center. How to get solve this problem? Thanks

First, delete the picture you inserted. Then Control/Right-Click the image
that came with the Cover Page & select the 'Change Picture' command. I
believe you'll find that a lot easier to deal with :)

The problem you're having is most likely due to the image being inserted as
In Line with Text. If so, you can't just drag it to some arbitrary
position... It has to be in a line of text as though it were an alphanumeric
character. In order to freely position a graphic object it must have some
form of Text Wrap applied. Doing so converts it to a 'floating' object
rather than In Line. Precise positioning & maintaining that positioning can
still be a challenge due to a number of factors. You can get some insights
from: http://word.mvps.org/Mac/PagesInWord.html plus the links at the end.

Hey Bob,

Thanks heaps! You've saved me a lot of headache. I'll give it a try tomorrow and see how I go.
