Problem with Project 2003 Server SP1

We have started implementing SP1 at our clients this week, but quickly
stopped: At two installations out of three, we encountered the following :
When logging in the first time after the upgrade, a EULA screen appears.
After choosing the "Accept" option, the same screen appears again - An
endless loop. After thinking that perhaps there was a clash with the
existing Office Web Components, we first deleted them, and tried again to
log on. This did not help. We then had to revert back to the pre-SP1 status
: Uninstall Project Server, restore the pre-SP1 database, end re-install.

We'll be sending out a circular to our clients this morning, advising them
not to install Project Server 2003 SP1 until further notice.

We have not encountered any problems with Project Pro SP1

Has anyone encountered this or other problems with SP1? Any ideas on how to
address our problem?

Hallo,
have you applied SP1 on all 3 parts that make up the whole
Project Server functionality (service packs for PjServer,
SQL server and STS)?
Some time ago we had the similar problem because we had
installed the SP1 for Pj Server only.
On the following link you can find description and
instructions and all 3 SP donwloads needed:
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=830240.

The other reason for this issue could be that you need
after the upgrade to:
- uninstall Project Pro,
- reboot,
- delete the 2 Active X objects (PJ10enuC a PJAdoInfo2
class) from the Windows/ Downloaded Program Files,
- connect to the PWA,
- accept Eula license,
- download the components again and
- reinstall the Project Pro.

And just one more thing: have you checked the EventLog on
the machine running PjServer? If there are any errors try
looking them up in the MSDN or Google.

Hope this helps.

We followed the Microsoft instructions to the letter, including applying the
three components.

By the way, the URL you provided was for the Project Server 2002 SP1
upgrade. Our problem was with Project Server 2003 SP1, and the relevant URLs
for this SP are:

http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=837241
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/...62-D534-4F17-AB08-7C9B790C5B15&displaylang=en

About rebooting and manually deleting the ActiveX components : We did it for
diagnostic purposes, but even if it worked, that would not be a satisfactory
solution for deployment within large organizations.

To be honest, I did not check the event log.

Thank you for trying to help.
