We have a large spreadsheet where we have several columns of formulas that
are protected and several columns that are unprotected that are the input
data for the formulas in the protected areas. The issue has to do with how
Excel behaves when trying to use the arrow keys to move between the cells
within the columns.
In previous versions of Excel you could arrow between the cells, protected
or otherwise, and only get an error message if you tried to enter data into a
protected cell. With the current version, or at least how the user
understands and has set it up, when you arrow, say right , you get moved
between the unprotected cells only and when you hit the last unprotected cell
on the right you get moved to the first unprotected cell on the left. If
there is data in the protected cells that you want to see on the left that is
off the view of the page the only way to get to it is use the scroll bar on
the bottom of the screen.
As I noted Excel 2000 does not behave that way when configured the same way.
We are hoping that this behavior can be changes to make it easier for those
who will use this spreadsheet.
Any feedback on how to correct this would be appreciated.
Thanks,
