Problem with sawing documents on exit from word (office XP)

When I am closing word documents (using the "X" or File-
exit) the word document close with out giving the option
for saving changes made in document.

The "save "and Save as" buttons works O.K.

When I start the Word in safe mode every things works O.K,
on exit from word I am getting prompt box with option to
save changes.

Hi Darek,

See if the problem occurs when you start Word using the /a switch. Go
to Start/Run and run:

winword /a

Note the space before the forward slash.

If it doesn't then more than likely you have a macro intercepting the
Close command (which is different than the File/Close command).
Typically the macro would be found in a global template/add-in.

Go to Tools/Templates and Add-ins and see if there are any global
templates in the list. If so these will be found in either your
Office\Startup folder, located in the installation path, or Word
Startup folder. The location of the Word Startup folder can be found
by going to Tools/Options/File Locations.

If you find more than one global template then move them out of the
folder one at a time and try to reproduce the problem in Word until
you have narrowed down the offending template.
