Problem with Signatures on Replies

R

RonL

I've created a signature that works perfectly on new e-mails, but I
also want to use it for replies and forwards as well. It is my
understanding that a default signature should show up on both new e-
mail as well as replies/forwards, but it doesn't for me. In addition,
if I click on the Signatures button to try and insert it manually, it
won't insert.

Any ideas on why this is happening? My copy of Entourage is up-to-date
and working normally other than this issue.

Thanks everyone.

This is a strange one. Try creating a new Identity in Entourage and see if
the problem exists there. This would eliminate database corruption as the
source of the problem.

Whenever you have a problem like this, it's best to try to find the source
of the problem.

1. Eliminate database corruption by creating a new Identity
2. Create a new User in System Preferences and test Entourage there to
eliminate problems in your User's folder.

If the problem does not exist in a new Identity then this indicates database
corruption. Rebuild your database.

If the problem exists in a new User with a new Identity then it's a system
wide problem. Applying the latest Apple Combo updater and/or doing an
Archive & Install would be needed.

If the problem does not exist in a new User then it's in your User's folder.

GOT IT! The setting in Preferences for Replies and Forwards was set
wrong. The default under Mail Attribution is the middle radio button.
Once I chose the bottom one, the signature inserted perfectly. What I
hadn't seen in the past was that the signature was actually going into
the Reply, but at the very bottom of the string.

Thanks, Diane. Glad I didn't have to rebuild the whole environment!

Reply setting aren't the most intuitive preference. I have screen shots to
show what happens when you choose the different setting. The ones for the
newsgroup are even more confusing than mail reply preferences.

Thanks, Diane. Glad I didn't have to rebuild the whole environment!

Me too!
