It seems as if it is reading one of the two numbers as a
text field. Check the formula for cell 12 (as 11 seems to
be working correctly where it subtracted the other cells).
Also check the formatting on the cells to make sure it is
not formatted as text.

may actually *be* an idiot, but even idiots have feelings.-----Original Message-----
This is probably a no-brainer for experienced Excel folks, but I'm a
newbie...
In cell E11 I have the formula:
=E9-E10
I have integer numbers in E9 and E10, so that works fine. Now I also
enter a number in cell E12. Then in E13 I put the formula:
=E11-E12
And Excel shows "#VALUE!"
Or, side by side, what I have and what Excel shows
14 14
8 8
=E9-E10 6
2 2
=E11-E12 #VALUE!
So in other words, Excel does not seem to grab the value E11 (which
happens to be 6), and use it in the second formula. Instead it freaks
out. How do I get Excel to use a result from one formula inside
another formula?
Thanks,
Steve O.
