Problem with spacing after apostrophe (i.e. don't vs don' t)?

When I type a message in outlook, I get a space after the apostrophe. For
instance don't looks like don' t. How do I get rid of the extra space?

If you hit control-shift-8 so that you can see the dots for the spaces, is
a dot actually showing up after the apostrophe? It may just be the kerning
of the font you're using.
