Problem with subtotals

I don't understand the question, but Dianne is my manager,
and I pointed her to this bulletin board.

Can anyone answer Dianne's question?

Dianne,

I tried a simple spreadsheet with subtotals. I expanded and collapsed
various outlines with no effect on the totals.

My guess is that one or more of the subtotals was created incorrectly?

In XL's help, it mentions the following:

a.. If there are other subtotals within ref1, ref2,. (or nested subtotals),
these nested subtotals are ignored to avoid double counting.

a.. SUBTOTAL will ignore any hidden rows that result from a list being
filtered. This is important when you want to subtotal only the visible data
that results from a list that you have filtered.

Do either of these situations apply?

Regards,
Kevin

Kevin,
It was the filters that caused the problem. Thanks!
