Problem with Sync to Google Calendar

I’m having a minor problem when I sync my Outlook 2007 calendar with my
Google calendar. I can’t tell whether the problem is in Outlook, Google or
the Google Calendar Sync utility (v0.9.3.5).

I don’t know if this matters but my Google calendar pre-dates my use of
Outlook. I’ve been using Google Calendar for over a year but just started
using Outlook in the past couple of months. (Still an Outlook newbie.) I'm
running Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit.

I had a recurring event on my Google calendar for 10AM-12PM every Tuesday in
May, 2010. That synced to Outlook with no problems. The event was cancelled
so I deleted it. The deletion also synced. The event is no longer listed on
either calendar and has not been for several weeks now.

The problem: every time the sync utility runs the deleted event shows up in
my Deleted Items folder in Outlook. If the sync utility runs five times the
deleted event is in my Deleted Items folder five times. Each one lists the
original subject of the event plus next to Recurrence it says:
Occurs every Tuesday effective 5/4/2010 until 5/4/2010 from 10:00 AM to
12:00 PM.

Again, this event has not been on my Google calendar or my Outlook calendar
for several weeks yet it is obviously still hiding somewhere.

Question: where is it hiding and how do I get rid of it?

(I have no other problems with either calendar or syncing them.)

Thanks
Peter

Outlook contains no settings or features that can control a sync. It is just
a passive data store in thta regard. All synching is handled by the sync tool
and I really believe the sync tool is producing the extra deleted events.
However, it's unclear whether this is the sync tool's fault or a side-efect of
how Google Calendar handles the deleted item. It could be that Google keeps
the item in a hidden place rather than completely deleting it and the sync
tool sees that place and so shows it to you by adding it to Outlook's Deleted
Items folder. It could also be the sync tool retains the information somehow
and puts it in Deleted Items. I just don't know enough about Google Calendar
to say. I'm confident, however, that the fault does not lie with Outlook.
