Problem with tab order

Hello,

I have a form with a tab control on it, and on one of the tabs, there are 6
continuous subforms with a couple of fields each showing between 5 and 15
records. The tab order is set for each subform, to go from one field to the
next , and the global tab order for the entire tab is set from subform1
through subform6.

Now something very puzzling is happening- as long as I tab through the forms
in order, things work ok. But the moment I start editing by clicking on a
field in another form, without going to the first form, and then press tab,
instead of going to the next field, the cursor jumps to the first subform.

Can somebody explain to me what is going on, and tell me if there is a way
to control this?
Data entry on my form is mostly mouse driven, but sometimes the user is
asked to "press tab" to jump to a text field [semi-hidden, ie. it has the
same colour as the background and therefore won't be seen unless you tab into
it or click on it] and enter text. It is of course embarrassing when the
cursor doesn't go where it's supposed to go.
