Problem with tasks

[Project Server 2007, PWA]

Hi all,
I have a problem with some projects. Earlier there was no problem. Since
some time there is problem...:(

Problem is...
Any of my resources adds a new task using Task Center in PWA (for
example: Start date of the tasj: 21 March 2008, duration: 4 h) a sends
it for approval. Project manager aproves this task and pubishes project.
Then when I go to Resource center in PWA select a resource which added a
task click to view his/her availability and see on the chart that a task
allready added isn't on 21 March but it is moved a few days back !!
It happens in my other projects too but not always. There is no rule :(
Sometimes task on the availability chart are ok and sometimes there are
moved a few days back.

If somone had had the same problem please for help.

Andy, can you please check in the Project Schedule of these projects what the
start date of the task is and compare this to the Resource Center. Are they
always the same?
thanks

Yes.

There is a problem with "View availability" in Resource center I think.
Some tasks are moved a few days back on the chart in compare to the task
start date. When I go to "View assignments" everything is allright.

Help, help, please, please :):)

Hi Andy,

From your answer you are saying that the start date of a project task where
the resource is assigned to and the "view Availabillity" start date are the
same. that is how the product works.

The start date is the "forecast start" that may change depending on task
dependencies, or may have changed once the resource actaully started on this
task.

If this is not what you expect, can you please write down step by step what
you are doing and what you would expect to see. Otherwise it will be
difficult to help you.
thanks
Marc

Hi Marc,

1. Via "Task center" I'm adding a new task named "Test2" (Start date: 31
March 2008, duration: 8h) and send it o project manager for approval.

2. Project Manager approve this task and then publish project.

3. I go to "Resource center" and "View Availabillity" for me and see
that day 31 March is empty ! :( and 20 March has a 8h overlocation :(.

4. But on the "View assignments" everything is allright: 31 March has a
8h assigement :(

For clarity please see this zip archive with screens from this url:

Hi Andy,
hmmmm, not sure why this happens. The only explanation I have is that the
start date is the 20th March, but given your screenshots that doesnt seem to
be the case. I am sorry I am not sure why you experience this issue.

Does this only happen with this one project or have you experienced this in
other projects too?
thanks

We have 20 projects in our organization. This happens for 2 projects of
them as yet. But not always. For some tasks everything is alright. I
can't find a rule that's is responsible for this "task moving" :(. Maybe
this is a unknown bug ?
