Problem with templates on network shares in a TS environment

We hav a TS environment with Office 2000 installed locally on each
terminal server.

We have placed all workgroup templates on a network share, with a GPO
pointing to that share.

Our problem is as follows: when several users open the same template
(approx. 5 users simultaneously), word hangs and won't continue. If we
close the open templates other users can open them again

How do we solve this problem?
