Problem with text decoration using Word as editor

I have a client, using Outlook (Office 2002 I think), he insists on using
Word as the email editor. Whether responding to a message or creating a new
one, he can apply all text decoration (bold, italic, underline, etc) except
color in his message. When working in Word there is no problem, any ideas?
