Problem with Toolbars

Hello .. I'm not sure that this is the correct place to post this problem,
apologies in advance if that is the case, but I couldn't find a newsgroup
more suitable.

I have used the Office Tool bar (not sure if that's the correct name) ever
since it was included with MsOffice .. started in Win95?definitely in Win98
and I really like it.

Now I have WindowsXP and originally the previous toolbar worked just fine.
Recently, however Internet short cuts are not working .. shorts cuts to apps
on my system are fine. The Internet Short cuts used to work fine, but now
when I click on an icon in the Office Toolbar it brings up a "Print" Box,
showing my Deskjet as if I had accessed it in the Control panel or settings
etc.

I can put the shortcut in a Toolbar created in WindowsXP with no problem ..
I don't really want to do this as the old Office one is much better in my
Opinion, can easily switch between Program and Accessories tools etc.

Any help with this would be really appreciated & if this is not the right
place for the post a re-direction would be much appreciated also.

Thanks
Abay

Hi Abby,

The MS Office Shortcut Bar (originally the MS Office Manager (MOM), renamed when Wordperfect added 'DAD') was discontinued by
Microsoft after Office XP/2002. One of the problems with it is that it didn't always win the 'always on top' competition with other
programs.

The Office shortcut bar isn't a feature of MS Windows but of the MS Office product and up through Office XP is an optional install
choice from the Microsoft Office listing in Add/Remove Programs in the Windows control panel.

The Office Shortcut Bar can be installed through a custom installation of an older Office version, and there are also a number of
similar (or even more advanced) 3rd party programs available as well.

Hi Abay,

What happens when you use one of the links? It could be a firewall setting that isn't allowing those to open through the shortcut
bar?

If you add a new shortcut link to an .htm file stored on your PC does that work?

The link works on every short cut except in the Office Tool bar .. used to
work in the Office Tool Bar, now it doesn't .. when the icon is clicked on
in the Office Tool Bar it pulls up a "Print" box. Re the firewall theory ..
I am using Norton & as I can remember it worked with the Norton firewall
before ..
