Problem with user defined field and value list (lookup table)

Hi all

I posted this question a few month ago but unfortunately didn't receive any
answers, therefore I ask once more:

I'm having a problem with user defined fields with a value list (lookup
table) and graphical symbols for those.

I am using Microsoft Office Project 2007 (12.0.6318.5000) SP1 MSO
(12.0.6213.1000).

What am I trying to do?

1) I user define a field like e.g. Text1, i.e. I rename it, define a lookup
table with possible values (A, B, C) and define graphical symbols for the
possible values

2) I organize this field from my project file mpp into Global.mpt

3) I create a new project file mpp

4) I insert my renamed field into the current view

5) Problem: the defined lookup values are missing while the graphical
symbols for those values are there

I thought this was a bug in the first MS Project Professional 2007 release
that has been fixed in the meantime - but that doesn't seem to be the
case... (and there's no other update that I could install).

Any ideas, any suggestions?

Regards,
Rainer

Hi Rainer,
You're not doing anything incorrectly. I can reproduce exactly what
you report and yes, this is a change from the way Project 2003
worked. The best answer I can suggest is to import the lookup table
values from an existing project file each time. When you customize
the field with a lookup table, there's an "Import lookup table"
button.

Sorry, I too wish it worked like it did in Project 2003.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
